My Journey to Zumba
I have not always been into fitness. Years ago I tried the gym but didn’t like it. In my 30’s my metabolism hit the floor, I put on 2 stone and was not looking the way I wanted to. I decided for the umpteenth time to seek out exercise.
I tried the gym (again). HATED IT (still). I tried running. HATED IT. I tried yoga and pilates, I liked these but felt the classes were too long and it didn’t take long before the excuses started. I tried swimming. I liked this too and I toned up slightly but got bored after a year and started making excuses not to go.
After hearing from various people that it was fun, I started going to local classes and got instantly hooked. I have always loved dancing and different types of music. It was SO much fun and such a laugh! Within a few months I didn’t recognize myself! I was fit, healthy and it was showing in my shape. At age 35 I was FINALLY happy with my body.
I really wanted to prove to other women that getting in shape really doesn’t have to be a chore. You CAN lose weight and tone up whilst having a great laugh with other people all in the same boat. So I became an instructor. I ADORE my classes and the lovely people that come to them. It’s a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where we work hard but giggle whilst we’re doing it and everyone leaves well-worked and with big goofy grins on our faces. Who needs the gym? ☺
